Trainings for representatives of ethnocultural associations and government bodies under the programs: “Mediation. General Course” and “Specialized Course. Mediation in Conflict Resolution in the Interethnic Sphere (Ethnomediation)”
Dates: 28.07 – 01.08.2025 and 02.08 – 07.08.2025
From July 28 to August 2, 2025, a comprehensive training on general mediation and a specialized course on ethnomediation took place in Aktau. Over ten days, participants developed skills in peaceful conflict resolution and effective dialogue.
The training was organized with the support of the Ethnomediation Council of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan in Mangystau region and brought together 15 participants — representatives of various ethnocultural associations, local authorities, the education system, and law enforcement agencies.
During the training, participants successfully completed two stages of the program, which allowed them not only to deepen their understanding of universal mediation principles, but also to focus on the specifics of interethnic communication.
The specialized course “Mediation in Preventing and Resolving Conflicts in the Interethnic Sphere (Ethnomediation)” included 5 modules — from ethnomediation session techniques and interethnic conflict analysis to the fundamentals of ethnopolitics and conducting multilateral negotiations. Participants worked on case studies, conducted role-playing exercises, and participated in facilitation sessions.
Ethnomediation is an important public and institutional mechanism in preventing interethnic conflicts. It is actively implemented by the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan through regional centers and Ethnomediation Councils. Such trainings contribute to forming sustainable behavioral patterns, developing constructive dialogue skills, and strengthening trust and social harmony.
