Training on Mediation in the Interethnic Sphere Held in Abai Region
On May 21–22, 2026, a two-day training program entitled “Mediation in the Interethnic Sphere” was conducted in the Abai Region. The training aimed to strengthen practical skills in the prevention and resolution of interethnic conflicts and to enhance participants’ capacity to conduct mediation sessions.

The event brought together representatives of law enforcement agencies, deputy akims of cities and districts, officials of internal policy departments, directors of Houses of Friendship, community mediators, and representatives of ethnocultural associations.

The training was delivered by Mukhtar M. Adayev, Director of the Public Association “Parasat Association of Mediators and Lawyers,” author and developer of mediation, negotiation, and conflict management training programs, co-author of the copyrighted program “Mediation in the Prevention and Resolution of Conflicts in the Interethnic Sphere (Ethnomediation),” and National Consultant of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

During the 16-hour training course, participants explored the specific features of mediation in interethnic disputes, studied mediation tools and techniques, practiced the key stages of mediation sessions, and learned methods for conflict analysis and conflict mapping.

Special attention was given to the organization and facilitation of multi-party negotiations, practical mediation techniques, and the analysis of social conflicts with an interethnic dimension that are commonly encountered in the region.
The training was conducted in an interactive format and included practical exercises, conflict simulations, case studies, and group discussions. The program contributed to strengthening the professional competencies of participants and enhancing the capacity of governmental and public institutions to prevent interethnic conflicts, promote social cohesion, and maintain interethnic harmony.
